Parting Ways with Synot
After more than three years, my journey with SYNOT Games has come to a close. As Delivery Manager, Backend Coder, and Business Analyst, I worked alongside my senior, self-propelled team of 8 from ELIA to build PEAK from a blank canvas into a fully featured global product — available today to 1,800+ partners across 32 languages.
It was one of the most complex, rewarding and humbling projects I've been part of. Here's what we built, and what I'm taking away.
The Challenge
In late 2022, SYNOT Games had a world-class game portfolio but lacked a proprietary, unified ecosystem to drive long-term player loyalty. Third-party tools weren't cutting it for a global holding aiming to lead the market. They needed a green-field solution — a robust, multi-tenant retention engine capable of handling millions of real-time events without impacting game performance.
My role was to take a high-level vision and turn it into a market-ready reality, navigating complex legal and technical nuances of the iGaming industry while racing against a 12-month deadline.
What We Built
PEAK is a comprehensive promotional and retention platform enabling iGaming operators to run tournaments, prize drops, challenges, and wheel of fortune mechanics with minimal technical friction. We started with a "Rapid Prototype" phase — delivering a functional proof-of-concept within the first 30 days to validate the core user journey.
From there, we engineered a high-concurrency retention engine with asynchronous multi-tenancy, real-time signal architecture handling thousands of concurrent player actions per second, and a modular compliance layer for global regulatory fragmentation.
The Numbers
Tech Stack
Frontend: Built with Lit and Vite — every component custom-built, loaded as lightweight plugins directly into the game environment. Frontend analytics piped to a custom tracking server for granular player-level telemetry.
Backend: ASP.NET Core on Microsoft SQL Server, with a high-performance in-process, in-memory engine running on event-driven architecture via RabbitMQ. Backend analytics and metrics shipped to Azure. The whole system orchestrated as microservices via Microsoft Service Fabric running on-premises. Built as a multi-tenant white-label solution with pluggable entity resolution and payout.
What I'm Taking Away
- Senior teams don't need managing — they need clarity, trust, and room to run.
- Real-time architecture is unforgiving. Design for failure from day one.
- The best product decisions happen at the intersection of business, compliance, and UX.
- Shipping globally means thinking in edge cases before the center cases.
